Sustainability - Be a voice for nature

Nature surrounds and envelops us. Nature is our home and we need it like the air we breathe. Taking caring of nature means taking care for ourselves, our lives - and future lives. The Earth is our habitat and not a resource to be exploited!

Wild Caribou is deeply connected to nature. All experiences are meant to bring us back to our roots where we knew nature is healing if we allow it to.

We are certified by Norwegian Ecotourism

Our sustainable contribution:

  • We take care of nature on our property and where we roam. We keep it as it grows naturally and respect the fauna and flora.

  • We offer unforgettable nature experiences with minimal footprints.

  • We promote authentic activities in the local area and offer an overview of the Porsanger´ area.

  • Every piece of litter removed from the environment is less of a threat to wildlife and less pollution to the local ecosystem. At Wild Caribou you will find a recycling point for easy disposal and recycling

  • We choose locally grown food and products with sustainability certification.

  • We use natural products for cleaning and ecological soap and shampoo.

  • We harvest from our own garden and the close surroundings. We only use organic products as fertilizer and we are weeding our garden by hand.

  • Instead of Over Tourism we choose Participative Tourism. We keep the size of groups small and involve the locals in order to create bonds and give you a real insight into the arctic lifestyle.

  • When building we reuse materials rather than buying new. Local nature materials are a must and is what gives a charming appearance to the buildings on both the outside and inside.

  • As we care for our future generations and how they are going to live on the planet, we participate in local associations to preserve Porsanger and Finnmark as the nature municipality it is - with one of the last wide wild nature areas in the world!

  • We collaborate with local businesses in order to preserve the community and keep it alive.

We want to be a voice for nature!
